Sorry i have been AWOL from the blogworld... there has just been so much going on in my life and i haven't taken the time for me.... you know how it is... kids, hubby, dogs, school, soccer, church... and so on and so on..... really no excuse for it but i just haven't made time for ME!!! Blogging is ME time.... i really enjoy it and don't do it nearly enough. i haven't even take time to read lately. oh the HORROR!!!!!
My sister let me borrow the new Paula Deen book so I'm really excited to get a chance to read that!!!
Kids are back in school and things are going well on that front. Hunter is now in second grade. He likes his teacher and i like her too. She is younger and does things differently so that's a good thing. He had a few people in his class from last year.
Summer is in the seventh grade this year. Am i getting old or what?? She is doing well. She is working really hard to get good grades. Brett told her that if she made A's and B's for the semester he would buy her an ipod! She really is excited about that. And she is a really good kid despite her mouth sometimes.... typical teenager!!! She loves to be with her friends....
Oh and her friends call me the "cool mom". Imagine that? Me? the cool mom? I'm not sure why, but hey id rather not be the "mean mom". ha ha ha! I love her little best girlfriends. they are soo sweet. they practically live at my house. one lives in a house diagonally to the right of us and on lives diagonally to the left of us. so they are constantly walking back and forth.... GIRLS!!!
Hunter started soccer last night and he starts RA's(missions class) at church tonight. It is so nice to get back in the swing of things from summer time.
AWANAS starts Sunday night at church. i am teaching the kindergarten class. Pray for me please!!!
Brett and I have an anniversary coming up on the 19th. I'm sure we aren't planning on doing anything special because Brett is going to be in a wedding in October and we will be going out of town for that for four days. Should be fun. I gotta find something to wear...... several things!!!

Well things only went from bad to worse!!!! My last post was about my car dieing, so it was a bad week. It only got worse.....
I was soooo excited on Sunday because we were leaving for vacation to go to Orlando. We get the van all packed up and ready to go. We are literally backing up out of the drive way on our way about 2 pm and the battery light comes on in the van. UGH!!! SOOO, we pull back up in the driveway and Brett goes inside to call our mechanic. We had shut off the car and I tried to crank it up again and it wouldn't. The mechanic comes to the house and tests the alternator that we had replaced on Saturday and apparently it was bad!!!!! We weren't going to be able to get a new alternator until Monday and get it fixed until Monday night. We sat around the house for a couple of hours trying to decide what to do...... we FINALLY decided that we would take Brett's car.
We unload the van and put everything in Brett's car. Put the turtle on the top, get the luggage in, get the kids settled in and we are on our way! YAAAAY! We get about 15 minutes down the road and I casually ask Brett if he has our resort conformation and Sea World/Busch Gardens tickets. Um NO!!! We turn around and head back to the house to pick these things up! We pick them up and head back on the road. YAAAAY! We are traveling down the road having a good ole time. We stopped at McDonald's and got something to eat.
About 11PM we stop to get something to drink and for a potty break. I decided to drive for a while so Brett could sleep. I'm chugging along and jammin to the radio and i notice that the temperature gauge is starting to go up. It slowly creeps into the red. So i pull off the side of the road and we sit there for a little while and let it go back down. We head off again and after a few minutes it starts to go up again so i start driving a little faster to get to the exit ramp. As i am pulling off of the exit ramp the car. shuts. off!!!!! GREAAT!!!! I let the car coast as far as it would and pull way off the road. We have previously had overheating problems with his car and if it would sit for a while it would always cool off and do fine. SOOOOO, from about 12 midnight we(Me, Brett, my two kids and my inlaws) are sitting on the side of I-95 in the pitch black dark. We call a wrecker to come and tow the car for us, we waited for about and hour and 10 minutes. It was 2:30 by the time the guy came. He was nice enough to take the kids and the inlaws to the nearest hotel for us and then return to pick Brett and i up along with the car. We finally get settled into the hotel around 3:30 AM Monday morning. We all crashed and decided we would figure out what to do the next morning.
Fast forward to Monday morning. Brett and I get up and he goes out and the car wont crank. We called the wrecker again and he took the car, Brett and I to the garage. We waited around for a little bit for them to check the car out. There was a walgreens across the street so we walked over there and got something to drink. While there the guy from the garage called and said that he couldn't fix it and that he said he thought it was a head gasket. Which is what we already had fixed on his car. Poor Brett was losing it at this point. All we could think about was that we were stranded in Florida 400 miles from home, no car and no way to get our kids to a vacation. VERY STRESSFUL!!! We decide to leave the car there at the garage and we walk back to the hotel. I think it was about 3 miles. Maybe a little less. It was really hot!!!
Brett's sister and brother and his family decided that they were going to come and get us. They arrived early Tuesday AM about 1 i think. Darlynn brought her suburban and Brad brought his truck with a car trailer. We picked up the car and headed home. After a few stops and some food we finally got home about 6:30 PM tonight.
I am very sad that we didn't get to finish our vacation but i am thankful to God that we all made it home safe and that we have family and friends that we can rely on. So here we are at home with 2 broke cars, just trying to calm down and laugh at the situation. That is a very hard thing to do.
Hopefully the week will get better!
So this really had not been a good week for me. Monday night my tooth broke. Tuesday night the battery in my car died. On Wednesday we got a new battery to replace the old one. Ok, so we got the car fixed! WRONG!!!! On the way to the dentist on Thursday to get my tooth fixed(no dental insurance so it wasn't a pretty thing) my car died AGAIN!!!!! We thought maybe it was the alternator but we had it checked at the auto store and they said it was fine. I'm really not sure whats going on with it. It is at the shop to be looked at, but the guy cant look at it until Saturday.
We are SUPPOSED to leave for vacation to Florida on Sunday. Our plans are to take the kids to Universal Studios. That is the plan anyway. I think i might go crazy if we don't get to go! I *REALLY* need a vacation.
Sorry for the downer of a post i just needed to vent!!!!
My baby boy Hunter decided that he wanted a "fauxhawk". Not sure you can see it by the picture but he has some hair on the side hence the "fauxhawk". Yes, i am crazy!!!! ha ha ha
Today was our family reunion for my moms side of the family. Surprisingly, it went really well. Usually when my moms side of the family gets together, there is usually some "words" exchanged between family members. It was nice to see some family that I haven't seen in a long time. The kids were well behaved so that was a plus! Didn't do too well with my eating choices but we all cant be perfect all the time. It was goooood too! hahaha! I dont have any pictures because believe it or not my hubby the photographer didn't take ANY!
This week coming up i will be busy getting ready for us to go on vacation to Orlando Fl. We are going to Universal Studios. It will be so HARD not going to Disney but i will make it. Pray for me! hahaha I cant wait to go. I really neeeed a vacation.
This weekend is tax free weekend here so I took advantage of that and picked up the things that i needed for the kids for school. I had already bought most of the stuff a few weeks back. We went and picked up some shoes for the kids for school. Rack Room Shoes has a buy one get one half off sale going on! WOOHOO! Got both pair of shoes for 60 something bucks!!! LOVE that! Hunter got some navy blue VANS and Summer got some hot pink and black VANS. They ROCK! i gotta get me some of those!!!
I figured since i am new to the blogging community that i would post some things about me that you might not know~!

10. Last but certainly not least, I am so totally, absolutely, positively head over heals in love with my husband Brett. He is God's gift to me and I am so thankful for him!

NO, i am not going to spoil it for anyone but i will say that i have been holed up in my bedroom all weekend desperate to get to the end of the story. My husband said that i was "making love" to Harry Potter! ha ha ha! It was fabulous and i loved it! JK Rowling really tied up all the loose ends that I had questions on!!!!
My family and I went to the release party at Barned and Noble friday night. It was alot of fun. They had a trivia contest and wand making. You also got to make a golden snitch! And face painting! I think i was just as excited as the kids!
They gave out wristbands and i was number 93. They had everyone start to line up about 11:40 PM and when it hit 12:01 AM they got busy. I was out of that store by 12:15 AM. Of course when i got home i HAD to start reading and read until about 3!

I have been trying to get all the kids school supplies together because we will gone on vacation the week before school starts. We are going to Orlando. We haven't decided if we are going to Universal Studios or if we are going to Sea World.... UGH! Decisions!!!
Monday- My baby girl left for her trip to SONPOWER in orlando. She had to be at the church at 7:30am and they left at 8. She called several times during the day. She was having a blast. They arrived safely in orlando around 3:30.
Tuesday- We didnt really do anything. We just chilled out at the house and i did some laundry and stuff.
Wednesday- Happy Fourth!!!! Unlike most people we didnt have any BBQ plans for the fourth. Imagine that! I went and visited my grandfather and did some things around the house for him. Paid some bills for him too. That night we ended up going to Zaxby's with the inlaws(yes, i really do love these people and u will find that they are included in ALOT of our plans).
Thursday- We dropped Jack(our mauzer. he is part maltese, part miniature schnauzer)off at the groomers and Hunter(my son 7) and Logan( a little boy that i keep) ran to Food Lion and picked up the fixins for a hotdog lunch, oh and some donuts too!! The we came home and got our swimsuits on and headed down to my moms to swim! They boys and I swam for a while then I cooked lunch, we ate and then the boys swam some more. Finally we headed home about 2.
Later that afternoon we picked Jack up from the groomers.... he is sooo cute
Thursday night i watched Big Brother! Dont know why but i am ADDICTED to this show!!!!
Friday- We cooked pizza for dinner and Hunter and daddy had a "sleepout", I dont know why Hunter calls it that, he just does. He and Brett blew up the air mattress and put it on the living room floor and watched a basket ball movie and and ate tortilla chips and cheese queso. Hunter loves to be able to have his "Daddy" time so it was nice for them to be able to do this. I even had the bed all to myself!!!
Saturday- Brett went to play golf with a friend. His daughter Gracie has been a classmate of Hunters the past two years and our families have gotten to be really good friends. Hunter goes to the kids Home Depot workshop that they have once a month so i took him to that. We went and picked Gracie up and she went with us. They made memory boxes. It is NOT as easy as it looks. Gracie and I actually messed our first one up and had to get another one and start all over!!! We even got a kit and an apron for Gracie's little sister Katie who was home with moma! After we left Home Depot we headed out to the mall and hung out there for a bit. We hit McDonalds on the way home and after eating lunch Hunter and Gracie played for a while. We had to pick up Baby Girl around 3:30. So we did that and then took Gracie home.
It was good to have Summer home. She had a wonderful time and was very tired!!! While in Florida they went to Universal Studios Island of Adventure. She had a blast there. She rode this crazy roller coaster called The Hulk.....
Not for me to ride but she LOVED it! She called me as soon as she got off of it and said it was AWESOME!
Saturday night we just hung out at the house and the kids spent some sissy/bubba time together.
Sunday- we went to church and then ate at the inlaws. Roast and taters! Yummy! Oh and nanna puddin'!!!!!
That afternoon i had to take summer over to the orthodontist because part of her palatial expander came out. UGH! We had to drive about an hour to his other office to meet him.... He ended up taking the palatial out and made her an acrylic retainer to wear for the time being. We were there a couple of hours. After we left there we headed over to Borders Book Store and just chilled out there for a while. It was nice to have some Mommy/ Summer time together!
Man, i was long winded today. Those that know me well know that i hardly ever shut up!!!!

This week was Vacation Bible School at church! I was a snack leader for the preschool department. In the preschool department we had about 200 kids each day. Ranging from 1 to 5 years old! I dont think i have ever been soooo tired at the end of a day than i have every day this week. You dont realize how difficult it is to keep that many kids entertained for 15 minutes after they are through with their snack....thanks goodness for Veggie tales!
Tonight we went to dinner at Ocharleys. Yummy! Then we went to the mall to pick up a gift card for my niece's birthday tomorrow. We are watching the movie The Sandlot(Return to the Sandlot). It is a really cute movie.
Tomorrow i have to run to Wally World to pick up some things for my daughter Summer's trip. She leaves Monday to go to Orlando with the SWAT(Student worship arts team) from church. They are going to a music conference. She will be back on Saturday. This is the first time she will be gone from home this long.... I will miss her lots, but i know she will have a blast. I didnt have an opportunity to go to these kind of things when i was a little girl so it means alot to me that she is able to go.
